Crispy Baked Buffalo Wings
We may not all agree on who the Super Bowl LIII champs will be, but can we agree that it doesn’t feel like Super Bowl Sunday without some crispy buffalo wings on the table? Good, glad that’s out of the way. There is something about some good ole buffalo wings that really get my salivary glands working overtime. Fun fact about me – I ordered buffalo wings for dinner before prom when I was in high school. Yep – I’m not even embarrassed about it:)
This recipe is super clean (Whole 30 in fact) so have fun while indulging guilt-free and may the best team win!
Crispy Baked Buffalo Wings
Ingredients
- 3 lbs organic chicken wings (I use Butcherbox)
- 1/3 cup ghee (melted)
- ½ cup Frank’s Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce (I put that s**t on everything, too)
- 2 tbsp arrowroot powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (more if you like a little extra kick)
- ¼ tsp paprika
Method
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and top the baking sheet with a wire cooking rack (this will help ensure your wings come out crispy)
- In a large bowl, mix together arrowroot powder, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, cayenne and paprika. Stir to combine.
- Dry your wings with a paper towel and then toss them into the bowl with your spices and toss to coat
- Arrange wings on wire rack and bake for 30 minutes
- While wings are baking, make the wing sauce by melting the ghee and combining with hot sauce. Stir well to combine.
- Remove wings from the oven and dip into wing sauce
- Increase oven temperature to 450 degrees and continue to bake for an additional 10 minutes
- Remove wings from oven and let cool (if you can wait).
For those of you who like to dunk your wings in ranch dressing, Primal Kitchen’s ranch made with avocado oil is my go-to option for pre-made dressing.
Enjoy!
